The Position
The DC/Supply Chain Asset Protection Manager will be responsible for company-wide Asset Protection with a focus on: Distribution, Logistics, Inventory Custody, Supply Chain, and Third-Vendor Security Services. The Manager will lead investigations within the supply chain to identify losses. This role will be responsible for minimization of shrink, scrap, and other costly losses to the organization. This key leader collaborates frequently and proactively with stakeholders to resolve issues and recommend progressive changes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote institutional shrink culture within the distribution centers, making shrink management the responsibility of all team members.
- Identifies issues and makes recommendations for minimization of scrap in perishable and highly-perishable.
- Provides excellent service and partnership to distribution centers, corporate office, and stores.
- Manage and coordinate third-party vendor security services, as needed for the company.
- Work with operational partners on scheduling and managing security services to be within appropriated budgets.
- Investigates issues throughout the supply chain: from purchase, import, internal transportation, warehousing, distribution center, and store receiving.
- Be a recognized subject matter expert in safety and security, incident response, including: crisis management, coordinate physical security of the corporate and DC facilities.
- Routinely respond to and investigate inventory issues, potential theft, and other safety incidents.
- Utilize analytical methods and a proactive approach to identify potential areas of loss.
- Understand advancements and applications in new asset protection technologies, while maximizing effective use of existing technologies and legacy systems, including, but, not limited to:
- CCTV, POS Exception Reporting, LP software, alarm pass codes, safe combinations, security passwords, and other security controls.
- Implementation and execution of policies, procedures, and metrics, which will allow for inventory variances to be quickly identified, and the source of said variances easily pinpointed.
- Provide and promote a holistic approach to asset protection.
- Promote shrink awareness through seminars, meetings, and training programs that drive change and execute process improvements.
- Administer and manager Asset Protection audits to create awareness, detect areas of vulnerability, and/or violations of policies.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify gaps of merchandise losses, robberies or burglaries, and recommendations ultimately alleviating risks to bottom line profitability.
- Abide by the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy.
- Ability to travel locally and overnight, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls as applicable to your function within the organization.
Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts or Science degree or equivalent experience/education preferred
- 4+ years of experience in Asset Protection in distribution centers (retail and/or grocery).
- Knowledge of law, specifically Asset Protection activities, interviewing/interrogation training, and practical skills (Wicklander preferred).
- Certified Protection Professional (preferred).
- Associate supervision experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (bilingual English/Spanish a plus).
- Excellent logical, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs; Excel experience should include pivot table and v-lookup.
