The
Payroll
Lead will be a main point of contact with our employees and drive accurate and timely delivery of all periodic and ad-hoc payroll services in a fast-paced environment and as a part of a collaborative and high-performing team. The team member will work cross-functionally with other departments to drive implementation of long-term operational and strategic initiatives. The team member will also be a backup for the Payroll Supervisor and work with the Senior Manager on process improvement related to inquiries and issued identified.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that weekly payroll is processed timely and accurately. Oversee employee payroll accounting, transactions and reporting activities.
- Communicate directly with employees on payroll issues and work with offshore payroll processing team to manage all inquiries to completion.
- Partner with HR, Operations, Benefits, HRIS, and Finance teams as necessary to achieve goals and collaboratively work on cross-functional initiatives
- Research and provide computerized payroll data and ad hoc reports for supervisors and department heads utilizing report writing tools.
- Assist with any back log of manual check logs, mail, VOE’s, pay card log and garnishments
- Partner with Accounting to conduct JE reclasses
- Manage escheatment process in coordination with Accounting
- Process W2-C’s and tax adjustments
- Partner with Payroll Analyst to conduct payroll system testing for system enhancements and upgrades
- Provides back-up support to Sr Payroll Manager and Payroll Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- 2 - 5 years of experience working in a Payroll Lead role
- Experience processing a multi-state payroll for large employee base
- Payroll designation is preferred (FCP, CPP).
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in accounting or finance desired
- Knowledge of the Basic Wage Standards covered in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
- Team player with excellent customer service with both internal and external customers
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be detail oriented, accurate and organized
- Positive work attitude
