The Position
The
Distribution Center Sr. Manager provides overall supervision for all activities at an assigned Distribution Center (DC).
The primary purpose of this position is the overall management, maintenance and performance of the distribution center. The Manager is responsible for the overall financial, operational, and productivity performance of the facility to guarantee every product handled is delivered on-time and with quality and ensuring our stores are serviced at the highest level.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Decision maker, with the ability to work independently and take action
- Ability to design a solution, Implement the Solution and Evaluate Results.
- Coordinate and supervises all distribution personnel and activities on a daily basis including receiving, put away, replenishment, selecting, quality checking, loading, and shipping.
- Provides associate with feedback related to performance and standards.
- Communicates with other supervisors and the DC Manager.
- Ability to monitor and enforce safety measures and policies for all internal team members and external vendors; able to provide coaching for supervisors to ensure a safe work environment
- OSHA Process Safety Management, Hazardous Waste and Health & Safety programs
- Involvement in regularly held associate’s meetings.
- Ability to manage, partner and direct 3rd party warehouse services within the operation
- Assigns duties to distribution personnel.
- Maintains, monitors, and enforces all policies and procedures that ensure the safe, effective operation of the DC.
- Encourages and promotes a positive, productive atmosphere in which associates benefit from the Supervisor’s knowledge, skill, and demeanor
- Abide to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls as applicable to your function within the organization.
- Monitoring the day-to-day operational systems and key metrics.
- Ensuring stores receive high quality of service.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Ability to interact with a diverse workforce
- Strong to expert level operational knowledge of warehouse equipment and processes including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Emphasis on WMS.
- Knowledge of computer systems (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff both oral and written.
- Must possess good team-building and facilitation skills.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English). Not required
- A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business is preferred.
- Seven+ years of DC Management experience in a fast paced, multi-shift environment
- Certified or professionally trained in LEAN manufacturing or Six-Sigma Green belt certification/Six Sigma Black belt certification preferred.
- Devising strategies to improve processes.
- Working collaboratively with other departments.
- A strong and proactive communicator
- A creative and resourceful problem solver
- Detailed, organized and proactive
- A developer of their team, who sets clear expectations, provides thoughtful feedback, and asks questions to gain understanding.
