SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The
Merchandise Assistant will work on a team supporting a set of categories to ensure proper inventory flow, sales, margin, and OTB is met consistently. This role manages the Relex ordering process and ensures order flow meets the direction of the Merchandise Planner and Demand Forecaster. This role executes the inventory strategy day to day through effective order placement, flow and re-flow or orders to align with OTB as managed by the Merchandise Planner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for life cycle of purchase order; including uploading orders from Relex to SAP, Purchase order maintenance, internal/external communication and follow-up to ensure orders are delivered and processed to align with business needs
- Serve as primary point of contact for TCS in respective Super Department to ensure Purchase Orders are processed and communicated to vendor(s) in a timely and accurate manner
- Create load plans, build trucks, and manage order minimums/policies effectively to minimize transportation costs and carrying inventory
- Provide regular feedback of known issues with product availability, vendor, and transportation issues to Buyer and Manager
- Partner with Demand forecaster and Merchandise Planner to support product flow to align with sales and inventory forecasts
- Ensure compliance with internal controls as applicable to your function within the organization
- Abide to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Two or more years of experience in a similar industry (grocery, retail)
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work effectively with many different teams within the company
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility to changing duties and responsibilities
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
