SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The
Merchandise Planner will work on a team supporting a set of categories to ensure proper inventory flow, sales, margin, and OTB is met consistently. This role manages OTB for the assigned core team and works on end to end supply chain flow ensuring sales are maximized. Duties include: gathering and analyzing data, inventory forecasting, re-forecasting for new trends, historical item sales trend review, promotional inventory requirements, adjustment of seasonal inventory projections, and creation of weekly sales and inventory position reports.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage weekly OTB process for individual core team and ensure compliance standards to OTB.
- Ensure optimum inventory levels necessary to meet projected sales demands
- Modify recommendations based on promotional and seasonal trend requirements
- Manage macro forecasting, scenario planning, and what-if analysis
- Review promotional plans with anticipated sales with buyer and VP, Merchandising
- Manage OTB outputs weekly adjusting for trends and ensuring plan aligns with budgeted needs of the organization
- Suggest and monitor cycle counts
- Assortment and Buy Planning experience a plus
- Make recommendations for product mix revisions based on sales trend
- Build a rapport with Logistics personnel to ensure execution and allocation deadlines are met.
- Work closely with the buyer to manage the overall core team
- Ensure compliance with internal controls as applicable to your function within the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS college degree preferred
- Two or more years of experience in a similar industry (grocery, retail)
- A combination of previous replenishment, allocations or analyst experience is required
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel
- Proven ability to analyze past sales data and make assumptions to future sales trend
- OTB experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work effectively with many different teams within the company
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility to changing duties and responsibilities
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
