SUMMARY/PURPOSE;
The Distribution Center Department Supervisor position will lead an hourly team of about 80 employees to do the fast paced work required to run the distribution center as efficiently, safely and productively as possible. They will ensure orders are selected, packaged, loaded, and dispatched safely, timely, efficiently and economically, and that proper records are maintained.
This role will handle management responsibilities for the team members under his/her supervision. This role is responsible for ensuring prompt, efficient and accurate handling of merchandise as well as developing and implementing team goals. This role is responsible for hiring, evaluation, development, discipline, coaching, and termination of 70-80 hourly associates. Department Supervisors duties may include maintenance issues, accounting issues, personnel issues, training, operations, safety/shrink control, inventory control, and customer service
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and coordinate daily activities of 70-80 hourly associates.
- Inspire your team to achieve desired results in productivity, teamwork, safety, quality, and job knowledge Collaborate across departments to drive optimal productivity.
- Foster an environment in which diverse backgrounds are respected and valued.
- Ensure performance plans are set, maintained, and continuously improved.
- Generate creative solutions to identify improvements in processes.
- Drive your personal growth and development by leveraging tools, resources, and relationships with other leaders.
- Maintain level of service requirements throughout the process, from our vendors to our distribution center to our stores.
- Manage a safe workplace by advocating safety training and accident preparedness. Supervise, direct, train and develop direct reports.
- Work with management to balance team and individual responsibilities and adjust staff accordingly to priorities within the warehouse.
- Have good leadership, team-building and facilitation skills.
- Abide to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls as applicable to your function within the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:

- Bachelor’s degree (preferred) with 3 years of related supervisory experience in a fast paced, multichannel distribution environment.
- Understanding of processes, materials, management and documentation.
- Ability to prioritize work and proven abilities/skills in analysis, process flow and systems experience is a must Implementation of KPI’s to obtain goal driven results/or metric reports that monitor productivity Knowledge of Six Sigma and/or APICS processes and/or CLT, CLA, etc.
- Strong computer (Microsoft Office Suite preferred) with knowledge of WMS systems preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Should be knowledgeable of DOT standards.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a daily basis and be able to stand for several hours at a time.
- The candidate must have a flexible schedule to work weekends.
- Familiar with Hazmat standards and MSDS.
